Catch-22 and the Theme of Death    There are many ways for a man to die, but there is no way to bring him back after he has entered the world of dead. Catch-22 is a novel satirizing war, and because of this, it inevitably has a strong underlying theme of death. But unlike many war novels, Catch-22 doesn't use violent depictions of fighting or bloody death scenes to denounce the evils of war; it utilizes humor and irony to make an arguably more effective point. And even more importantly, Catch-22 is ultimately a novel about hope, not death. Although the inevitability of death is still a prominent motif, it eventually leads the main character, Yossarian, to realize that the desire to live is important and also that he can't simply live; he must live free of hypocrisy and oppression.      Ã‚  Ã‚   Nately's whore plays a major part in conveying the message about life and death in Catch-22, even though she doesn't become an important character until the novel nears its climax. The hypothesis was that if bleach was used, it would be the most effective because bleach is commonly used to clean and disinfect various things. The variables that were tested were antibacterial soap and Scope mouthwash for the antiseptics; bleach and ammonia for the disinfectant; and Cipro, erythromycin, and tetracycline for the antibiotics. Two Petri dishes were covered in the bacteria and split into four quadrants, in which each had a disc containing one of the chemicals stated above. One quadrant was left alone with no chemicals for the control group. The dishes were then left for the bacteria to grow, and once obtained again it was obvious that some of the bacteria was killed by the chemicals. In individual data, there was a zone of inhibition of 3mm in the antibacterial soap; 10mm in the Scope mouthwash; 2mm in the bleach; no zone of inhibition around the ammonia; 10mm in both the erythromycin and the tetracycline, and 15mm for the Cipro. The average length of the halo of inhibition in antiseptics was 8 mm in the E. coli, and 6 mm in the M. luteus. The average length of the halo of inhibition in the disinfectants was 12mm and 11mm respectively. For the antibiotics, it was 7mm and 9mm respectively. The data represented the hypothesis because for both the E. coli and the M. luteus, the largest zone of inhibition was in the disinfectant; and more specifically, the averages were 28mm in the E. coli and 18mm in the M. luteus in the bleach. In some Petri dishes, the bleach also killed bacteria in the other quadrants, indicating that it killed a lot of bacteria. This also affected some measurements for the other chemicals, because the zone of inhibition for the other chemicals around the bleach could have been caused by the bleach instead of the other chemical. Another error was that since these Petri dishes were left out for 2 days, there was re-growth in the bacteria in and around the zones of inhibition, like the ammonia in the individual data. In the lab, the chemicals were tested on bacteria to see how much of the bacteria will get killed. What kind of items then would create the most bacterial growth? In this case, the rent agreed upon is $ 1,000, and the landlord has to abide by this rule by accepting $ 1,000 only on account of damage deposit. Heating issue of the premises As per the case study, Sally had found that the temperature level of the premises is not maintained as per the standard set by RTA. During the month of September Sally had entered the rented house and she had found that the heating system was not up to the mark with 12 degrees Celsius which is not at par with the standard fixed by RTA of Alberta during September. Expected level of temperature maintenance should be 22 degree Celsius. The landlord had imposed the condition that the small holes in the walls are to be repaired by her and only then he would take necessary steps to repair the heating system for maintenance of desired level of temperature in the house as per law. The liability of the landlord towards heating system of the premises is to ensure maintenance of temperature level at 22 degree Celsius irrespective of any preconditions like repairing of small holes on the walls by Sally(Austlii, 2017). Conclusion Although there are all areas covered for tenants and landlords regarding rights and duties of them through RTA, Alberta, it is the preliminary duties of the tenants to be aware of these rules and regulations. In this work Browning displays how the men of wealth and power treated women. The poem was based on true events of Alfonse II, Duke of Ferreira in Italy, whose first wife, Lucrative, was rumored to have been poisoned after three years of marriage. Browning portrays the bad qualities of the Duchess as being easily pleased, modest and courteous to those who served her. This description was a perfect depiction of what was considered the female duty during the Victorian age. This need for the grotesque dwells inside of man; Browning had the audacity to reveal that hunger to the world. Robert Browning avoided sharing himself inside his writings to escape criticism. He developed the technique of the dramatic monologue which reveals hidden characteristics of the speaker. His experience in writing plays may have influenced this technique. He had the ability to get inside the mind of a schizophrenic killer and hypocritical monks.
